Swager wins 2025 Arthur C. Cope Award from the American Chemical Society

Timothy Manning Swager, the John D. MacArthur Professor of Chemistry, has been selected by the American Chemical Society (ACS) as the recipient of the 2025 Arthur C. Cope Award. This award is one of the ACS’s National Awards, which encourage the advancement of chemistry in all its branches, support research endeavors, and promote the careers of chemists.
Established in 1972 under the terms of the will of Arthur C. Cope, this award, consisting of $25,000, a medallion with a presentation box, a certificate, and an unrestricted grant-in-aid of $150,000 for research in organic chemistry, under the direction of the recipient, is given in recognition of outstanding achievement in the field of organic chemistry, the significance of which has become apparent within the five years preceding the year in which the award will be presented.
Arthur C. Cope was a member of the MIT Chemistry Faculty from 1945 until his death in 1966, and served as Department Head from 1945–1965.
National Award recipients will be honored at an award ceremony on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, in conjunction with the ACS Spring 2025 meeting in San Diego.
